engine showcase
motion reel · 33 s · own project
- the brief
- No brief. I wanted to show range the way game studios show off their engines: as many styles, colours, animations and kinds of 3D as fit in half a minute.
- the idea
- One shape, every world. A single circle runs through the whole film and every cut is a match cut on it: an N64-style beach walk, chrome, a 1-bit moon, synthwave, glass in window light, a planet made of type, and back to chrome, where it lands as the full stop of the end wordmark.

how it was made
Every world is real-time 3D and shader code, rendered frame by frame and edited in After Effects, with each cut on the music's grid. After my first notes two worlds were thrown out; one was replaced by the beach walk I described, in the N64 style I grew up with.
